What Does LASIK Fix?

Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is a surgery that reshapes your cornea through the use of lasers. It’s a quick and precise procedure that can correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism, enabling you to see clearly without glasses or contact lenses.

LASIK is typically painless, its results are immediate, and its recovery period is short. In many cases, the surgery can be performed on both eyes in under 15 minutes, and since it’s an outpatient procedure, you will be able to relax in the comfort of your own home as your eyes heal.

Advanced LASIK Technology

After the FDA approved its use in 1995, Kleiman Evangelista Eye Centers of Texas was one of the first eye care centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to adopt LASIK technology. Since then, LASIK has become an integral part of our practice, and we’ve made every effort to stay on top of new advances in surgical technology. We’re proud to offer our patients state-of-the-art care that will help them achieve their vision goals.

Our surgeons use the Wavelight Contoura suite, which is notable for its use of topography-guided technology. Prior to your procedure, we will create a 3D model of your eyes to determine how to modify your cornea, ensuring a highly personalized surgical experience.

Is LASIK Right for You?

If you find wearing contacts irritating, or if you’re annoyed with the hassle of swapping your regular glasses for prescription sunglasses, you may want to consider LASIK. At Kleiman Evangelista, we offer free consultations, during which you’ll sit down with one of our experienced eye surgeons to discuss whether LASIK is right for you. The consultation includes a full eye exam that will give us a better understanding of your eye health, enabling us to recommend the treatment options that are best for you.

60 Second Lasik Self Test

Take our LASIK Self-Test to find out if LASIK will help you get back to seeing – and living your life.

Are There Non-LASIK Options?

There are some eye conditions LASIK can’t be used to treat. No need to worry, though — we offer a variety of alternative procedures that can safely and effectively correct your vision. If you have extreme farsightedness or thin corneas, you may benefit from a clear lens exchange procedure, which, like cataract surgery, replaces the natural lens in your eye with an artificial one. Other procedures, including photorefractive keratectomy and implantable contact lenses, are also available.
